Workshops
Overview
Little Winds EGE offers workshops in a variety of formats including half day, full day and multiple day sessions. All workshops can be designed to meet the unique needs of either youth or adults. Ideal workshop size is from 4 – 12 participants in order to allow for interchange of ideas and experiences within the group as well as the opportunity for individual attention and learning.
- No previous horse experience is necessary for these workshops.
- No riding is included in the workshops – all interactions with the horses are on the ground.
- Participant safety and respect for the well-being of the horses is very important to us and all workshops are designed and conducted in a way to ensure a safe environment.
Workshops will be offered at our facilities in Davis, California and include healthy and delicious food and drinks. For multiple day workshops, Little Winds EGE will assist clients in making arrangements with local hotels and with arranging transportation to and from the workshop location.
Listed below are the core program areas with a brief description. We can combine most of these topics into a comprehensive training package and also offer custom designed workshops on request by the client.
Leadership Development
Working with the horses, participants will observe, practice and embody essential skills for any leader: paying attention to what is happening around us, giving clear direction about where to go and what to do next, lead with focused energy in the direction you want to go, relating with authenticity. Horses clearly demonstrate for participants what their own leadership style is and how it is helping or hindering them as a leader.
Team Building
For thousands of years horses have lived in herds; their survival depends upon successful interactions with the members of their herd. In this workshop participants will work with the horses and tap into their core wisdom about group dynamics. Participants learn how to identify what their common goals are, develop an awareness of each team members’ specific and important role in the group, build trust among team members, and practice working together as a team to achieve a common vision.
Communication Dynamics/Energetic Communication
Horses are prey animals, always alert, always communicating with each other and their surroundings; they are experts in non-verbal communication and communicate primarily through energy. This workshop taps into these core communication skills that horses have and teach us about using the 93% of our communication tools that are non-verbal. In this workshop participants learn how to recognize their current communication patterns, how to focus their energy on positive communication, and get back in touch with the power of non-verbal communication.
Negotiation in the Spirit of the Horse
If you can convince a 1200 lb. horse to shift in your desired direction, just think about what else you can accomplish! In this workshop the horses guide us in learning about perspective, non-verbal cues, reaction, response and the power of clear intention. Interactive exercises with both workshop participants and equine guides enable you to feel in your body the differences in approach and their varying degrees of success in the negotiation process – it is this embodiment of the lessons that will stick with you during your next negotiation.
Equine Guided Grieving – Exploring Grief and Loss
Horses respond to what we feel, not to what we think. Many times just being in the presence of the horse will open the way for us to fully experience our feeling selves. In this workshop participants are able to explore their grief with the horse as a deeply understanding guide. Beginning from each individual participant’s particular place in the grieving process, the horses gently lead each person towards where they want and need to be. Depending on their needs and comfort level, participants can use this session to reconnect with their loved one, identify barriers to moving forward in the grief process, honor and release their loved one, or reach deeper into their own grief and sadness. The workshop is appropriate for those whose grief is new as well as for those who have been grieving many years.
Women, Wine and Horse Wisdom
Each session features an experiential learning activity with the horses and wines from a local vineyard. If you have a group of three to six people and would like to schedule a workshop, just call or email Anne-Marie to come up with a date and time that would work for your group. This is great way to honor friendships, celebrate birthdays or mark a life transition together. Workshops are scheduled for a three hour period.
